Mandya: The State Government on Thursday February 3 suspended Srirangapattana Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer (EO) on charges of demanding bribe from Gram Panchayat Development Officers (PDO).
It is alleged that TP EO Byrappa demanding and torturing PDOs for bribe. PDOS alleged that EO fixed 4 to 20 percent commission to sign bills of various developmental works and government projects.
A PDO videographed the EO’s demand which has been viral in social media since last two days.
Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Divya Prabhu told mediapersons that she received complaint from PDOS about corruption of Byrappa and she sent a report to Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department Secretary for suitable action.
RDPR Minister K. S. Eshwarappa told mediapersons in Bengaluru that he seen the video clip about corruption of EO and has ordered for immediate
suspension of the officer.
