Man found dead in Mandya, honour killing suspected

Mandya: In a suspected case of honour killing, a man who was in a relationship with a Dalit girl, was found dead at Sindagatta in Mandya on April 20.

Nagesh, son of Krishnegowda and Shanthamma, a residents of Sidagatta village.

According to sources, Nagesh was in love with a girl named Bhavya from Sarangi village. She was reportedly eight months pregant. Nagesh who had earlier agreed to marry her, recently refused to do so. Enraged Bhavya’s parents had registered a rape and cheating case, under Sections 376 and 420 of IPC, was registered against Nagesh in K.R. Pet Town police station on April 10.

In a suspected case of honour killing, a 26-year-old man, who was reportedly in love with a Dalit girl, was found dead at Sindagatta in K.R. Pet Police station limits in Mandya district on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, on April 17, Bhavya’s parents Singraiah and Manjamma, who had gone near Nagesh’s house reportedly demanded money. Nagesh, who works in Mumbai had been to his native place on Tuesday, The very next day he was found hanging in their land.

According to sources, Nagesh’s mother Shanthamma has filed a complaint and a case of abetment to suicide has been registered under section 306 of IPC in K.R. Pet police station.

The body has been sent to K.R. Pet government hospital for post-mortem. The police have begun an investigation to ascertain whether it was a suicide or murder.
