Mandya: After the tragic bus mishap in Mandya’s Pandavapura taluk that claimed the lives of around 30 people, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for the affected families.

On Saturday afternoon, while the bus was plying to Mandya city, it skid off the bridge and fell into the Vishweshwaraiah Canal, resulting in the drowning of around 30 people.

When news of the accident reached the CM, he cancelled his official engagements for the day and went to the site of the tragedy, where he condoled the deaths and consoled the bereaved families. He was accompanied by the district in-charge minister CS Puttaraju, Transport Minister DC Thammanna, MLA Ravindra Shrikantayya and others.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AICC president Rahul Gandhi condoled the deaths and offered their condolences to the families of the victims.
