Mandya: Shahid Sheikh, a businessman stepped out of his house in Bagalagunte to buy fruits and vegetables on June 7 and instead got kidnapped by four men in a white car.

Special police teams looking out for him traced the gang to Nagamangala, in Mandaya District and rescued him. Bharat, Abhishek, Prakash KP and Cheluvamurthy arrested in this case, are all in their twenties and informed that they were paid Rs Two Lakhs by the businessman’s first wife Roma Sheikh.

Not satisfied with this amount, and hoping to pocket a better deal, the kidnappers then raised a fresh ransom demand from the second wife Ratna Khatum, who called in the cops, reports The Hindu.

The police are out to arrest Roma and three more persons involved in this act. Apparently, according to the police, Roma was upset that the businessman had given some of the jewellery brought by her to his second wife.
