Mandya: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed IAS officer P Annamalai as the general observer for the four assembly constituencies of the high voltage Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

P Annamalai is the senior IAS officer from Tamil Nadu.
According to the sources, Annamalai will be in-charge of Melukote, Nagamangala, KR Pet and KR Nagar assembly constituencies.

It can be recalled that in Mandya Lok Sabha constituency independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh lodged a complaint against the district administration with the ECI
alleging that officers are favouing Nikhil Kumaraswamy, JDS-Congress alliance candidate. It is said that the move of appointing Annamalai comes in this regard.
