Mysuru: Bhima, the elephant, which was caught in Sawanthwadi forest of Maharashtra in 2015 with the help of Dasara elephants, has successfully completed his training in Mysuru.
During the six-month training, Bhima learnt to lift and carry logs of wood, trace and capture rogue elephants in the wild, salute, respond to Mahouts and to participate in the operations of catching wild animals.
In all of the activities Bhima has passed with flying colours!
The entire training process has been videographed and it has been sent to Forest Minister of Maharashtra.
After the initial six months training, the Maharashtra government decided to shift it to elephant camps in Nagarahole, Mattikodu and Moorkal in Mysuru for further training.
The domestic elephants which trained Bhima include Abhimanyu, Mary, Varalaxmi, Shrinivasa and Drona.
Maharashtra government has spent Rs 2 lacs for the training purpose.
