Kodagu: A neighbour shot a woman to death and also tried to kill himself here in Kalur village in Madikeri on February 23.

The deceased has been identified as Chondamma, a resident of Kalur.

It is learnt that Dharmaraj who is the neighbour of the slain woman shot at her when she was alone. Dharmaraj who is in a critical condition was taken to the district hospital where succumbed to injuries.

The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Reports say that the accused shot the woman to death for a trivial reason.

Madikeri Rural Police have rushed to the spot.
