Madikeri: The hearing on a private compliant filed against former MP and actor Ramya was adjourned by a Somwarpet court in Kodagu district to October 19.
The first Judicial Magistrate of First Class Court directed the complainant to provide necessary details to the court on his complaint against Ramya.
Kodagu Praja Ranga president and advocate, Katnamane Vittal Gowda had registered a civil case against Ramya’s statement about Pakistan. He had filed the complaint under Section 200 of Code of Criminal Procedure, urging the court to register a case under Section 124A of IPC, which deals with sedition besides other charges.
Her statement resulted in provoking people to protest and affected harmony in the society, alleged the complainant in his appeal.
Ramya, after attending a SAARC Young Parliamentarians Conference in Pakistan, made comments in support of Pakistan. That led to a huge controversy. People in Karnataka, miffed with her comments staged protests.
