Police nab dacoit gang, recover items worth Rs 8.11 Lakh

Madikeri: In a swift operation, the police nabbed a five-member dacoit gang in Kushalnagar, when they were planning to execute a crime on the night of April 17.


Disclosing the details in a press conference, Kodagu SP Rajendra Prasad said police confiscated gold, silver ornaments and black pepper bags valued at Rs 8.11 Lakh and nabbed five persons.

Sanjay Kumar, P K Ravi, A Ismail, all residents of Gandhi Nagar in Somawarpet, C S Sudeva of Chowdlu village and N C Chandra of Hanagallu village fell into the police trap.

Police also seized an auto, lethal weapons used for robbery, from the gang members. Circle Inspector Kyathegowda, Sub Inspector Jagadish and the staff succeeded in nabbing the criminals based on definite clues.

On interrogation, police found that Sanjay Kumar is involved in 12 cases of robbery in temples, houses and vehicle lifting cases and the rest in one case each.
