Madikeri: Three persons have been arrested by the Kodagu police on Tuesday December 15, on charges of killing a man during Tipu birth anniversary celebrations in Madikeri on November 10.

The suspects arrested are identified as P U Kaverappa alias Kavan (31), S H Bhishma alias Nanda (36) and K R Ramesh (45).

Shahul Hameed, was shot dead on November 10 on Tipu jayanti.

Kodagu SP Varthika Katiyar speaking to reporters said that the three suspects had decided to avenge the death of Devapanda Kuttappa, the district organising secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Kuttappa died after protests turned violent and agitators indulged in stone-pelting on Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
