Madikeri: A new rental bike service was launched in Madikeri by Virajpet BJP legislator K G Bopaiah along and City council president Kaveramma Somanna to facilitate tourists visiting the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Madikeri branch manager of Royal Brothers bike rental service said, the bikes will ferry tourist to desired places and will help in tourism promotion in the district.

A road show was planned on the occasion near tourist locale Raja Seat. However, it was called off due to protest from local auto divers who foresee a dip in their earnings.

The auto drivers warned of protest in the future. Similar bike rental services are available in states like Goa in the country.
