Madikeri: Unidentified miscreants stole a sandalwood tree that was planted in the premises of Madikeri MLA M P Appachu Ranjan’s house. The incident has been reported from the MLA’s own house in Kumburi.

The sandalwood tree, which was planted near the entrance gate to the house many years ago, is estimated to be worth Rs 1 lakh.

Reportedly, the incident occurred when the MLA was not home on October 10. They evidently used a saw machine to cut the tree.

The incident came to light when workers came to the house.

A case has been registered at the police station in this regard and a team of forest officials visited the spot to gather evidence.
