Madikeri: A woman in her 50s was trampled to death by a rogue elephants at Mathikadu near Chettalli.

Amina was the resident of Ponnathmotte and was working at Green Land Coffee Plantation. As usual Amina and three others were walking to Greenland through Tata Coffee Estate when the elephant waged and attack.

Though all the women ran helter-skelter, Amina came under the feet of the elephant. Due to the trampling, Amina’s face was completely disfigured and her skull was crushed by the pachyderm.

Amina had died on the spot. Her body was shifted to Chettalli Hospital in an auto. The locals staged a flash protest outside the hospital demanding arrival of top officials of forest department.

The department announced Rs 5 lac relief to Amina’s family and handed over Rs one lac.
