Madikeri: The Kodagu District Youth Congress President Haneef Sampaje has accused the Virajpet DySP of making a biased decision over banishing party’s district General Secretary Murugan ahead of the general elections. Haneef has also stated that he would complain regarding the same with the Human Rights Commission.
Speaking at a press conference, Haneef said, “Several BJP members are booked under IPC sections 307 and 506, but no action has been taken against them. Whereas, only one case is registered against Murugan and the court of the Sub Divisional Office has ordered to banish him ahead of the elections. This raises questions about the credibility of the department.”
“A former member of the gram panchayat and six others are also involved in the case which Murugan is facing but Virajpet DySP has targeted only Murugan. This leads to suspicion that the department is backing BJP members. The law is equal to everyone but it looks like Murugan who belongs to Dalit community has been intentionally targeted,” accused Haneef.
“Human rights has been violated by expelling Murugan and apart from the Human Rights Commission, we will also complain against the DySP with the District Superintendent of Police,” he added.
Youth Congress Town President Sada Muddappa and members Rahul Marshal, Vivek Raj and Mansoor Ahmed were present during the press conference.
