Madikeri: Even as speculations are rife that DySP M K Ganapathy ended life due to departmental pressure, his wife Pavana has affirmed the same argument.
'His charges are false, he was hallucinating', says DySP's brother                                                                     Ganapathy’s wife Pavana

The grieving wife told the reporters that Ganapathy had spoken to her about the problems he was facing at the workplace.

“He was under pressure since he was posted to Bengaluru and he had confided in me about the same several times. The interview that he gave to a local channel is nothing but the truth and Minister K J George had a role to play in this entire episode,” she said adding that she was not aware of any depression that Ganapathy was fighting, as told by his brother MK Thimmaiah.

IGP contradicts

IGP (southern range) B K Singh, speaking to the reporters said that Ganapathy was suffering from depression since last several months and his mental state has been the main driving force behind his act.

Prescriptions of a neurologists from A J Hospital, Mangaluru has been recovered from the hotel room where he ended life, said Singh adding that this is an substantial evidence to show that he was under treatment for his mental condition. The IG however refuted the claim that death note was recovered from the room.

BJP stages stir

Meanwhile, District BJP members staged a protest on Friday condemning the death of DySP Ganapathy. The protesters staged ‘rastha roko’ while venting their anger against the state government and demanded arrest of Minister K J George. They also said that the case must be handed over to the CBI for probe.

District Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad tried to convince the protesters, even as they blocked the road when Ganapathy’s dead body was being brought out after Post Mortem procedure. The protesters said that they would not withdraw the protest till the ‘unnatural death’ case registered is rectified as ‘murder’ case. Efforts from DC Dr Richard D’Souza to convince the protesters too met failure. Meanwhile, Ganapathy’s brother MK Thimmaiah and father called up the local MLA to make way for performing last rites. Even this yielded no results.

After staging a stir for over two hours, finally, the protest was withdrawn when IGP B K Singh said that the COD team comprising of COD IG, two SPs and two DySPs would be visiting the district soon to probe into the case. Later, Ganapathy’s dead body was taken to his native village Rangasamudra.
