Madikeri: Refuting the allegations made against him and his son by CNC President NU Nachappa, Former MLC AK Subbiah alleged that the CNC always thrives when there is turmoil in the society and that the CNC is instrumental in dividing the Kodava community.
Addressing a press meet on the former MLC rubbished all allegations made against him and his son and clarified that he is not supporting the naxal movement, instead had sought justice within the judicial frame work.
Alleging that the CNC is not a registered organisation, he said, Nachappa is misguiding the entire Kodava community for his benefit as the CNC does not have any bylaws or members. He sought audit of the CNC accounts by CBI .
“Nachappa is trying to gain mileage by making baseless allegations against us. I gave shelter to Nachappa for five years once upon a time and now he is blaming others for no reasons,” he said.
Defending his son, the former MLC said, his son rose to the post of assistant advocate general on his own merit and hard work. Instead of feeling proud on a fellow Kodava’s achievement who has an opportunity to become an SC judge in the future ,Nachappa is planting venom in the society to tarnish his son’s image, he alleged.
Continuing he said, it is Nachappa who has a tacit understanding with the timber mafia in the district. Kodavas are known to stand for truth, human values and maintain high standards in public life without showing caste bias, But Nachappa is degrading the entire Kodagu district, he alleged.
He further said, Nachappa sets his own dates and timings for traditional Kodava festivals and traditions and has taken unilateral decisions by installing stone in Devat Parambu thereby sacrificing interests of Kodava associations held in high esteem by people across the district.
Nachappa who once declared that Kodavas were not Hindus is now seeking Hindu support and reminded him that the age old stones were removed at Devata parambu by pro-Hindu organisations.
It may be recalled that CNC had gone public against AK Subbiah and his son and had made several allegations them by circulating printed copies in National and State level political and judicial circles.
