Diddalli tribals to get 900 sft sites through draw of lots

Kushalanagar: District in-charge Minister M R Seetharam assured the Diddalli tribals of government keeping its promise on allotting sites  900 Square feet (30×30) sites to all displaced families after the forest department evicted them.

Speaking at a meeting of Kushalanagar, minister confirmed, the allotment will take places through draw of lots.

The government has earmarked 6.7 acre land for 181 sites in Basavanahalli area of Kushalanagar Hobli, 10 acre land in Rampura for 184 sites and 7.50 acres in Kedumullur gram panchayath limits for the purpose of allotting 531 sites in total.

The displaced tribals were asked to submit documents claiming stake within a week.

In the meantime tribal leader Chandru demanded the allotment of sites in Basavanahalli and Rampura for tribals from Somwarpet taluk. The minister in response said, the tribals belong to all three taluks and hence it will not be possible to accommodate his plea.

MLA Bopiah present in the meeting assured of complete solution to the problem without any further confusion.

Minister Seetharam advised tribals not to demand sites of their choice which according to him may lead to further delay.

Elected representatives, senior officials from the district administration and others were present during the meeting.
