Madikeri: The Codava National Council (CNC) on Tuesday urged the government to protect the Kodava minority tribal community from Naxal, Maoist and ISIS influence.
Addressing a press meet, CNC President N U Nachappa said, “Kodagu district is facing threat from ISIS and Maoists. In the Diddalli case, there is involvement of Naxal and ISIS supported organisations. Kodagu is turning into a hiding hub for anti-nationals, alleged Nachappa.
“There should be NIA and RAW probe on Diddalli case and we have also complained to Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. There should be surgical operation on anti-nationals who participated in Diddalli protest.
People from border district were brought to Diddalli forest area and few Kurubas and Yeravas carried out a protest. We are also suspecting participation of migrants from Bangladesh in the protest. Naxals from Orissa too were involved in the protest. The prohibitory orders must be continued in the district and CCTV cameras should be installed across the district and security beefed up,” he added.
Money is being deposited under Janandolan account in a bank in Sagar in Shimoga and there are speculations that this money is being used for Naxal activities, he alleged demanding action on the same.
He also urged not to provide economic, political and land packages to those staying in Diddalli claiming to be refugees. District In-charge Minister M R Seetharam, MP Prathap Simha and MLA K G Bopaiah had responded to CNC’s concern, he claimed.
There will be a protest infront of DC’s office on January 5 demanding constitutional recognition to Kodavas as minority tribal community, he added.
