Siddapura: Diddalli, the tribal hamlet which had hogged headline for its protests over 17 days has now come to rest. The region came to boil after forest officials recently pulled down the huts of the tribals at Diddalli. Raged protesters even went to the extent of staging nude protests demanding for their rights. After 17 days of protests, Minister for Social Welfare Anjaneya assured the tribals that temporary houses would be built for them and relief would also be given. He had said that Rs 1cr would be released soon to provide temporary houses for the tribals.

With this the tribals have called off the protest as of now. Hence, no slogans and no revolutionary songs resonate in Diddalli now. The placards held during 17 days of protests have been stacked up at several corners of the village.
Most of tribals are seen resting. The entire village looks deserted. While some tribals were seen repairing their homes, children were busy playing some games on the streets. Diddalli Ashram School has 105 students and these students had remained away from the school over the last 17 days.
As per the directions of Minister Anjaneya, food is being provided to the displaced families of Diddalli by the Social Welfare Department. Five new toilets have been built near Ashram School for the residents of Diddalli.
ANF patrolling
With rumours that Maoists have backed Diddalli protests, Anti Naxal Force sleuths have camped here and two teams are patrolling the area even now.
