Madikeri: A local court in Madikeri has quashed the sedition case filed against Kannada actress-turned-politician Ramya for her ‘Pakistan not hell’ remark.

It may be recalled that an advocate Katnamane Vittala Gowda had filed the sedition case against the actress for her remark, “Pakistan is not hell and there are good people in Pakistan”. Gowda had contended that Ramya had hurt the sentiments of Indians by praising Pakistan.

A case had been registered against Ramya under IPC sections 124 (A), 344 and 511 in this regard.

Citing that the entire Pakistani population cannot be held responsible for killings of our armymen, Judge Shyam Prakash said that her remarks did not amount to sedition.
