Kushalnagar: China’s interference in India’s sovereignty and its foreign policy is detrimental to peace in the region, opined Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, who rued over China not learning the right lessons on freedom, from India for ages.

Interacting with the media on arrival at the Tibetan Rehabilitation Centre in Bylukuppe, Nobel laureate Dalai Lama said China’s action on Doklam associated with its conflicting foreign policy indeed amounted to inflicting terror in the region.

Depriving Tibetans of their rights, the Chinese government is resorting to mass killings of Tibetan people, he alleged.

“We are well within our rights when we fight for our freedom but the Chinese government is doing everything possible to curb our freedom by employing sophisticated technology”, he alleged. “Using high end technology, personal internet data is being hacked and cell phones tapped on regular basis by the Chinese communist regime”, he said.

“Some Tibetan men are being forced to attack Tibetans in exile by the communist regime to silence the voices of freedom”, he stated.

“We remain grateful to India which upholds democratic values and promotes religious tolerance”, Dalai lama said showering praises on India and added that the healthy relationship of Tibetan with their Indian counterparts continues.

Unwilling to comment on the imposition Goods and Sales Tax (GST) by the union government recently, the Tibetan leader felt tax reforms by the ruling regimes world over are inevitable in the current economic scenario and would be beneficial in the long run.

Tibetan people had lined up on the either side of the streets to welcome the Tibetan leader on his arrival from Mundagod Rehabilitation Centre located in Uttara Kannada district. They waved and bowed down at the leader as his vehicle passed en route to the monastery and threw their garments at the vehicle to express their joy and appreciation. The district administration officials, local Tibetan leaders and leading Tibetan Buddhist monks were present on the occasion. Tibetan cultural troupes joined the rest and danced to the beats of the drums.

Dalai Lama, under Z Plus security provided by the union government will stay at the Seraje monastery over the next 5 days.

Dalai Lama looked weary due to illness while interacting with his followers and was seen blessing many by placing his hand on their shoulders and heads. He is likely to deliver talks and actively take part in prayer and meditation during his stay at the monastery.
