Mandya: Demanding fulfillment of their various demands, which includes sugarcane price of Rs. 3,000 per tonne and regular power supply in rural areas, farmers have threatened to block the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway from Dec. 10.

KRRS leader Konasale Narasaraju said the Highway will be blocked from Srirangapatna to Maddur, with farmers tying up cattle and sheep on the road.

Several representations to the government for fulfillment of their long pending demands have fallen on deaf ears. As such, it has become inevitable for the farmers to block the highway to pressurise the government, he said.

Pointing out that the government alone will be held responsible for the fallout of the blockade of Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway, Narasaraju appealed the public to support the cause of farmers whose life had become miserable owing to government policies.

He reiterated the demand that the government should stipulate cane price at Rs. 3,000 per tonne before commencement of Belagavi Assembly Session.
