Mysuru: After several years of wait and a result of continuous battle from meat vendors, the city will soon have a state of art the modern abattoir.
During a meeting at DC office on Tuesday January 6, District in-charge minister Srinivas Prasad confirmed the report. With the set up of modern a slaughter house, Mysore will be the first in Karnataka to have such facility close proximity to the city, the minister added.

In charge minister guided the members of MCC to plan the slaughter house outside the city due to the present situation of killing animals, cruelly. He also added that the slaughter house should be away from the schools, temples and mastoids, keeping religious aspects in mind.
Adding to this MP Pratap Simha said that before planning the slaughter house, all members of MCC, MLA’s and public should have their approval and their consent will be heard and addressed.
The company allocated to construct the slaughter house must have a direct contact to the higher authorities so that no problems may arise, in due, the MP said.
Members of MCC and other demanded different slaughter house for different animals because common slaughter house may lead to religious conflicts keeping Halal in mind, the suggested.
The present marked land for slaughter house near Kesare area in Mysuru, earlier, people protested against slaughter house issue in 2006. The modern abattoir will come up at Kesare at a sprawling area of 14.4 acres, four km away from the city. The abattoir has a capacity to render around 10.5 metric tons and chilling capacity of 10 metric tonnes.
DC Shikha, ZP CEO P A Gopal, M K Soamshekar, Sa Ra Mahesh, Vasu and members of MCC were present in the meeting.
