Kodagu: Students from England who have been camping at Tattalli in Siddapura with a tribal community called Girijana hadi are said to have been tirelessly creating awareness about cleanliness, importance of education and clean environment in the last few days.
This group consisting of 6 students who came to the hadi through ‘Rally India’ trust is staying at the residence of Mutthamma, one of the community members. They have been visiting tribal houses, enquiring about their condition, lifestyle and also creating awareness about saving the environment and the usage of limited water in plastic cans. They have also been propagating cleanliness in and around their houses.
In this short duration, they have also visited students at Ashram school and created awareness among students about the importance of education. They then engaged themselves in cleaning the nearby surroundings and the roads. Awareness on the ill-effects of alcohol consumption was also created by this enthusiastic group of foreign students.
Twenty five students from Gokak social service Mahavidyalaya also are busy creating awareness on getting education, environment and necessary facilities from the government. Fruit Saplings were distributed through the District Tribal Farmer’s Association and District Rural Development Association to residents of the hadi. President J P Raju, Card association head Asha, seniors of the village Puttappa, Appaji, Siraj Ahmad and social service Mahavidyalaya’s B S Patil were present at the event.
The team from England will remain in the Hadi for 2 more months.
