Somawarpete: The accused who allegedly beheaded a minor girl after she called off their marriage in Somawarpete, Kodagu district, was arrested, reported various media outlets. The 32-year-old was allegedly on the run after killing the girl and severing her head.
Prakash and the victim were supposed to get engaged when officials from the Women and Child Development Department intervened on Thursday, halting the event. They also persuaded the girl’s parents to call off the marriage. Enraged by the cancellation, the accused barged into the girl’s home on Thursday evening, dragged her out, and allegedly beheaded her. The victim’s mother sustained injuries in the incident and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
The accused then fled with the girl’s severed head and had been on the run since. A Kannada news portal reported quoting Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan, that the accused was arrested and refused to reveal more details. Sources said the police have not yet recovered the severed head of the girl, and searches are ongoing to locate it.
