Kodagu: Heavy rains continue to lash District

Kodagu: Heavy rains continue to lash Kodagu District over a week now.

Four houses have been inundated in Koinadu on Kodagu – Dakshina Kannada border beside Madikeri – Mangaluru National Highway following flood in Payasvini River.

The District Administration  has shifted four families into care centre. In Jodupala near Madikeri landslide was reported near the Government School.

Makkanduru-Hammiyala Road collapsed in two places. Bhagamandala – Napoklu Road was blocked due to flow of water on road. So far 25 houses have been partially damaged in the District and two houses have been damaged 50 per cent owing to tree fall.

Virajpete Tahasildar Yogananda on Sunday July 10 visited Thora village and shifted eight families to care centres. Harangi Reservoir recorded outflow of 20000 cusecs of water while  inflow recorded 12,500 cusecs.

The authorities issued warning to the people living in low-lying areas beside rivers. CESC Authorities are striving hard to restore power supply in rural parts of the District.
