Kodagu: Torrential rain threw life out of gear in Kodagu on Friday as roads were blocked and power supply disrupted. Almost all the villages and a few towns were left without power for five days.

But the situation was different in Chikamagaluru and Shivamogga districts.

After heavy downpour for a week, there was some respite for the residents of Chikamagaluru on Friday. Sunshine after a week definitely brought smiles on the farmers’ faces. They stepped up sowing activities in and around Chikamagaluru.

In Shivamogga district too, rain started receding. There was moderate to scanty rainfall as on Friday.

Meanwhile, the storage level in the Hemavathi reservoir is likely to reach the maximum level before July as the catchment areas continued to receive heavy rainfall, dam officials said on Friday.

The water level as of Friday stood at 2,898 ft against the maximum level of 2,922 ft, and the inflow was 27,000 cusecs. The water level on the same day last year was 2,875 ft and inflow was 1,830 cusecs.
