KJ George speaks on Kempaiah, atrocities and his son

Mysore: Justifying Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s move of appointing retired IPS officer Kempaiah as the advisor to him, Home Minister K.J. George yesterday opined that Kempaiah’s appointment had helped him a lot in taking major decisions and clarified that Kempaiah had never interfered in the process of transfer of Police officials.

He was speaking at a programme organized by the District Police at Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) in Nazarbad on Friday August 22, in the presence of IGP(Southern Range) Bijay Kumar Singh and other top Police officials of city.

Speaking to media persons at the venue, George declared that the government will not tolerate indiscipline among cops, the Home Minister said that he will ask City Police Commissioner Dr MA Saleem as to why the plans for the construction of the building for City Police Commissionerate was not sanctioned by the corporation.

Atrocities on women and children:

With regard to the rising incidents of assaults on women and children in the State, George said that the Police had been asked to act swiftly besides saying that necessary amendments would be made to Laws pertaining to crimes against women.

 Claiming that atrocities on women were not on the rise, the Home Minister said that recently there has been a spurt in the number of women who were daring to come out and lodge complaints with Police.

Justifies son’s nomination:

Ruling out his involvement in his son Rana George’s nomination as member of Wildlife Board, George said that Rana is a wildlife photographer and was a Wildlife Warden for five years at Chikkmagalur which qualified him for the post.

Yelwal cash loot case: CID submits interim report

Home Minister KJ George said that Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the infamous January 4, Yelwal cash loot case involving five Policemen attached to Mysore South Police Station had submitted its interim report.

Stating that a Sub-Inspector had already been suspended for his involvement in the alleged loot case, he said that investigation was likely to be completed soon.He added that the charge-sheet was being prepared. Clarity on the involvement of top ranking officers associated in the case would emerge only after completion of investigation, he said.

He concluded stating that the Government will not hesitate to take action even against top Police officials as well, if they were found guilty in the cash loot case.

He also said that, valuables worth about Rs. 3.56 crore recovered from thieves in the year 2013-14 ware returned to the owners on the occasion. Gold and silver articles, computers, laptops, 79 two-wheelers, seven four-wheelers, 35 LPG cylinders were among properties worth Rs. 3.56 crore recovered in 952 cases in the year 2013-14.
