Mysuru: Hundreds of farmers took to streets protesting against releasing water from river Cauvery, here on August 30. The protesters picketed Mysuru Command Area Development Authority(CADA) office and following the incident police have intensified security to avoid untoward incidents.The farmers were led by State Sugarcane Growers’ Association President Kuruburu Shanthakumar.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has called for a bandh demanding water, even though there is shortage of water in all the four reserviors of Karnataka and the Tamil Nadu government has also appealed to the Supreme Court to release water.
The protesters enraged with the bandh call given by TN, seized a theatre where Tamil film was screened. They tore the posters and set them ablaze and also stopped screening.
