Mysuru: “Kanaka Dasa worked for the welfare of society irrespective of caste and religion in 15th century” said District in-charge and revenue minister Srinivas Prasad.

The Mysuru District Administration celebrated Kanaka Jayanthi, with a grand procession, which commenced from the Mysuru Palace and led to the Kala Mandir. Several cultural groups took part in the procession and Govt programmes like “Anna Bhagya” etc were highlighted in the procession.
He said, “Kanaka Dasa was an eminent person who wrote several poems and Keertanas on social evils like the caste system and differences in society.We should remove the caste system in the society and follow the message of great people like Buddha, Basavanna, Ambedkar”,
“Caste and religion were made by humans for their selfish ends, and we must work for the development of society and nation. We should learn from a nation like Korea, China Japan etc who are following one religion and working for development”. he added
Mayor R Lingappa, deputy mayor Mahadevamma, Zilla Panchayat president Pushpa Amarnath, MP Dhruvanarayana, MLAs Tanvir Sait, M K Somashekar, M K Somashekar, MLC G Madhusudhan, deputy commissioner C Shikha, were present in function.
