Mysore: The Deputy Commissioners of all the eight districts under Mysore Division and senior officials of the region took part in the day-long regional Lok Adalat which was organized by High Court Legal Services Committee at the ZP auditorium on Saturday September 6.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Justice L Narayana Swamy, a member of the Committee, who directed the Chamarajanagar DC AM Kunjappa to make sure that no granite mining takes place at the 41 quarries coming within a radius of 10 kms from the eco-sensitive zones (ESZ) in the district.
The Adalat is being held to obtain reports from the Deputy Commissioners on the implementation of recommendations on solid waste management, management of medical wastes and its control and problems faced by industries, as said at the previous Lok Adalat held in city recently.
Kunjappa also came in for wrath of the Judge when a report submitted by him on the implementation of children-friendly toilets at schools and Anganawadis in the district failed to impress the Judge who asked him to implement the scheme within the next two months.
Justice Narayanaswamy also advised Kunjappa to make arrangements for proper disposal of solid wastes atop Malai Mahadeshwara Hill in Chamarajanagar district which earns average revenue of Rs. One crore and provide a free environment for devotees, keeping epidemics and other diseases away.
