Melukote :  The shooting for a Kannada movie at the  Panchakalyani(lake) of the historic temple of Melukote, had to be suspended halfway through after devotees raised strong objection  to the decision of the authorities in permitting the shooting even when there was Theerthasnana at the lake.

The team of ‘Dilwale’ Kannada movie had  earlier arrived at the place after securing due permission of the district administration. However, the shooting of the film near the Panchakalyani, particularly when there was a heavy rush of devotees, proved irksome for the devotees. This even led to a heated exchange of words between devotees and the film team.

Finally, the Melukote SI Ashok and Temple Executive Officer Venugopal who rushed to the spot, sensing that the situation may go out of control, directed the film team to cancel the shooting.
