Inter-religious marriage row: Three nabbed in Muslim girl’s abduction case

Mysuru: The Lakshmipuran police have nabbed three persons in connection to abduction of a Mangalurean girl from Mysuru, couple of weeks ago.
Hindu man attacked by Muslim wife's kin in bid to take girl away-1The arrested persons are Amanullah (25), Zulfikar (28) and Shaukat Ali from Mysuru and Madikeri respectively. However, the whereabouts of the girl is yet to be ascertained.

It may be recalled that on December 4, 2015 a youth named Shivaraj (22) was attacked in Mysuru and his wife Alima Shaheen was abducted by the attackers from Krishnamurtypuram on December 4, 2015 while the couple was returning home on two-wheeler from a shopping mall.

Both Shivaraj and Alima hailed from Mangaluru. They had fallen in love while they were pursuing their studies and had married against the wish of their family. After marriage they had started living in Mysuru, following life threats to Shivaraj. However, even after shifting location Shivaraj continued to get threats from Alima’s kin. On December 4, Alima was forcefully taken away and based on a complaint filed by Shivaraj about the abduction of his wife, the policemen began investigation and arrested the gang which kidnapped the lady.

It is said that the main brain that plotted the abduction plan remains at large, but the arrested persons have said that they had handed over the lady after abduction to a certain individual and they had taken Rs five lac as prize for the same.
