Mysuru: The CUG facilities (mobile phone service) that was provided to the Mysuru City Corporation officials and Corporator has been withdrawn following allegations of misuse of service.
Following this, a section of Corporator have demanded action against the erring Corporator. “Stringent action should be initiated against those corporators who misused corporation mobile phone facilities (CUG facility) and the difference amount should be collected by them at the earliest,” said Corporator Nandish Preetham
Nandish is the only corporator who has not taken mobile facility or sim from corporation. “The sudden disconnection of these numbers has put lot of discomfort for the public and also officials. Immediately the authorities should take measures to come out with alternate facilities” added Nandish.
Nandish said “It was in 2007-08 corporation introduced mobile facilities that is CUG facility to all its corporators and officials. Then council meeting resolution was also taken that Rs 1500 to Rs 1800 per month will be given as mobile charges. Though most of the corporators are following the same, the corporators belonging to Ward No 46 and Ward No 47 have misused the facility. The mobile bill of corporator belonging to ward no 46 is Rs 46,000 while that of corporator belonging to ward no 47 is more than a lakh. These two corporators have totally misused the facility which was given for welfare of the public. Both these corporators have even made international calls. After long struggle people come and pay various taxes and here people are misusing those money. The officials should take measures to recollect the difference amount.”
Jagadeesh, Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation said that he will go through the council report and based on the decision taken, action will be taken against those found violating the said resolution.
It can be brought to light that due to misuse of government facility, state government in its order on April 27, directed all the corporation commissioners across the state to disconnect all the CUG facility given to the corporators.
