Mysuru: Following death of a woman after hysterectomy procedure, a doctor of Cheluvamba Hospital who performed the surgery has been suspended and a team of doctors from outside the said hospital have been called to probe into the matter.
Dr C R Prameela, the doctor of Cheluvamba hospital has been suspended after holding her responsible for the death of a 25-year-old woman post operation.
Mysuru Medical College director Dr Krishnamurthy said that the order of suspension and the probe have been issued as per directions of the DC and the hospital authorities.
It is said that the district Family Welfare Department would release a compensation of Rs 2 lacs to the family, while the hospital has already given Rs 50,000 compensation. Meanwhile, the doctor in question was not available for comments.
It may be recalled that Rupashree, a 25-year-old housewife from the city died when she failed to recover from liver complications after a sterilization procedure went awry on May 13.
