Mysuru: Tourists visiting Mysuru palace will experience hassle-free parking after electronic gates were installed to prevent overcharging.

Mysuru Palace Board launched the new parking management system acting on the complaints about parking fees. Electronic gates were installed near Varaha gate.

Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha inaugurated the electronic gates on Friday. M.K. Somashekar, MLA, board director Indiramma, and deputy director T.S. Subramanya were present.

Board director Indiramma told that the new parking system is like how it works in malls where a computerised slip is generated with the vehicle number and time of parking.

Parking rates

Parking fee will be different for vehicle type. The parking fee for cars had been fixed at Rs. 30 per hour and Rs. 10 for every extra hour. For buses, the hourly fee is Rs. 60 and Rs. 20 for every extra hour. Likewise, the parking fee for two-wheelers is Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 after an hour; autorickshaws Rs. 15 and Rs. 5 for extra time; mini buses Rs. 40 and Rs. 15 for extra time, and cycles Rs. 5 and Rs. 2 extra time.

Shikha said that the gates were installed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. Two more gates will be installed at the additional parking spots, which are mostly used during the Dasara celebrations.
