Mysuru: In a rather bizarre incident a woman Panchayat Development Officer left to Mantralaya, after she failed to cope up with the harassment from the local politicians.
Poornima, a PDO of Kadakola Gram Panchayat went missing on March 24 and petrified family members brought the matter to the notice of Zilla Panchayat CEO Gopal.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that succumbing to pressure and harassment from local politicians, Poornima hung her shoes and left to Mantralaya.
It is said that Gangaraju, water man of the GP retired recently. But, he started pestering Poornima to appoint his son to his post, a demand Poornima did not agree to.
In this regard, he had also gathered large number of people, outside the GP and created scenes. Even during the general body meeting of the GP on March 22, the same issue was raked up by some members. During the meet a member named Lokesh even verbally abused Poornima.
Insulted by this uncivilised behaviour, Poornima darted out of the meeting hall and went to the local police station to register a complaint. But, to her dismay, the police refused to lodge her complaint.
On March 24, Poornima switched off her mobile and without speaking to anybody, she left to Mantralaya in pursuit of peace.
It is said that ZP CEO who tracked down Poornima has convinced her to return to duty. Poornima is also the Zilla Gram Panchayat Naukarara Sangha President.
