Mysore: State minister for primary education Kimmane Ratnaker on Saturday said that the government is serious to provide quality education from first standard to pre-university level and the measures initiated by the state government like milk supply and nutritious food to children have started yielding results.

Minister said the government has spent Rs 400 crore on supplying milk to the children. With the implementation of this scheme, 47% of children in 23 districts who were suffering from malnutrition have been benefitted, he disclosed and said that the government is committed to these programmes which will automatically improve the education percentage in rural areas and slums.

Regretting increasing tendency among the people to do wrong things, he said before independence though masses were illiterate they had high moral values and led a virtuous life, in the recent years people are educated but they are losing moral values.
