Mysuru: Two youth drowned on September 2 at 10 am, while immersing a Ganesha idol in a lake at V G Koppalu limits of Periyapatna taluk.

The deceased have been identified as Mahesh(27) and teenager Manjunath(16), both residents of V G Koppalu.

Four people went to a nearby lake this morning to immerse the Ganesha idol after performing the final Puja last night. During immersion, two youth holding the idol at the rear drowned in the small lake.

Police and fire force personnel removed the bodies from the lake and sent them for autopsy.

Periyapatna police registered a case.
