Mysuru: A youth who robbed his own aunt and friend’s house was nabbed after a long gap of three years.

The arrested is Raghavendra (27), a gambler with weakness for horse-racing and betting and a resident of Vidyaranyapuram.

During his stay in Vidyaranyapuram, he had befriended a lady in 2012. He had learnt about the place where she kept her valuables. One day when the family of the lady was away, he robbed 160 gms of gold from the house.

The success of robbery in friend’s house encouraged him to execute yet another robbery in 2013 in Vidyaranyapuram and this time his target was the house of his own maternal aunt.

Seizing the opportunity when his aunt was away, he fled with 371 gms of gold.

What was surprising was the fact that in both the cases Raghavendra himself ended up filing complaints with the police. He remained tense about the robberies and accompanied and helped police in all possible way, preventing the suspicion pin from pointing towards him.

However, the curtains fell on his drama when couple of days ago he ventured to pledge the gold that he had stolen three-years-ago.

When he was loitering in Janathanagar area in a suspicious manner, police informers tipped off Saraswathipuram Inspector Poovaiah, who instantly rushed to the spot.
On questioning Raghavendra revealed about the two ‘friendly’ robbery cases.
