Mysuru: No school can ignore or reject admission under the RTE Act to any student that is allotted by government,” said former DDPI – deputy director of department of public instruction and resource person Palakshaiah.

He was speaking in an interaction programme with the public about the Right to Education Act-2009, organized by the Zilla Panchayat and department of public instruction held at the Jaganmohan palace.
Answering questions raised by the public he said, “If educational institutions have doubt during admitting children under RTE act, they should bring it into the notice of DDPI and not ignore the admission.”
There will be no extension of dates to apply RTE as the last date will be on February 18. State government has also ensured to teach children in Kannada language. The schools should not flout the law, he added.
“According to RTE act the disabled children, orphan and refugees can be admitted irrespective of their age. The relaxation is restricted only to these categories while the other selection of students will be done by the designed software. Random sampling method is used to select students for the schools,” said Palakshaiah.
During the meeting an activist alleged that apart from 30 schools in the district no school has agreed to admit children under the RTE. He said that a school is shifted to other place in city physically but on papers they are not shifted which is considered to be illegal according to the Act, to which DDPI H R Basappa said that he will sort out the issue soon.
Currently 7698 applications have been filed online in the district. The highest amount of applications are filed in Mysore north zone with 3117 applications the lowest is KR Nagar with 219 applications.
