Forest officials nab two hunters who gunned down wild boar, six others escape

Mysuru: The forest department officials managed to arrest two hunters while six others escaped in Hediyala range of Bandipur reserve forest. The gang of eight members had already hunted down a wild boar by the time they were nabbed.

Sundar and Shathkumar of Shantalli village in Somwarpet taluk are the nabbed hunters where as Jayram, Muthanna, Pratap, Ramesh, Ramachandra and Ganapathy escaped.

The forest department officials during routine search operations in Bavihalla of Naganapura Balluru Hundi coming under Bandipur reserve forest heard gun shots fired in a nearby location. When officials followed the trail they managed to recover one dead wild boar gunned down by the hunters. During the same time they nabbed two persons while six others managed to escape.

Officials recovered one gun and 12 cartridges from the nabbed hunters. According to assistant range forest officer R.Sandeep Kumar,during interrogation they revealed that they were summoned by one Siddaraju, a resident of Balluru Hundi .

In the forest area adjacent to Nanjanagud and HD Kote taluks of Mysuru district several instance of hunting wild animals were reported earlier.
The nabbed hunters were remanded to judicial custody.
