Mysuru: Youth belonging to rich families have been falling prey to frauds on Facebook.
Two such incidents have been reported at Kumvempunagar police station limits where rich boys have been targeted by few frauds by getting in touch by creating fake facebook accounts. These frauds initially befriend the youth, lure them with lewd message and obscene pictures of girls and then blackmail them.

A Rajasthan based man’s son was assaulted by three youth who stormed into his shop and questioned him why he had sent obscene picture in facebook. Then he was forcibly taken to a remote area and was assaulted. The police who rushed to the spot however resolved the matter by asking to settle it after paying certain amount of money.

Another youth from the same area who runs a Bangle store was assaulted by a group of six people for allegedly sending lewd message on facebook to a girl’s account. He was taken to a remote place and was demanded money. However he managed to escape from the clutches of the group and filed a complaint at the jurisdictional police station. Even this case was settled by the police.

Youth have been becoming easy prey to such frauds. These victims either delete their accounts or lose money as they cannot go out in public out of fear of losing respect in the society.
