Mysuru: “Farmers should use the facilities and agricultural facilities granted by the government”, said Zilla Panchayat president Pushpa Amarnath after the inaugural of the Farmers day organised by the Agriculture Department and JSS Agriculture Centre Sutturu on the occasion of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s birthday
The Farmers day was held at the ZP hall on Tuesday December 23. She opined that farmers of India are not living the life they deserve. Due to globalization and loss in agriculture many farmer families are heading towards cities which is a bad sign. Farmers should continue their agricultural profession by using the facilities given by the government, she encouraged.

Charan Singh, former PM of India who had concern about the farmers introduced many beneficiary plans which help farmers.
Quoting examples she said, “APMC made farmers to get free from middle men who were cheating the farmers in getting good price for their yield. He eradicated the Zamindari system in the country; many farmers got back their land.”
“Education and Agriculture is very important to Indians mainly because most of the population of India depends on agriculture so in order to improve agriculture, farmers should visit the agriculture Dept to get updated on technology and implement its use”, she added.
Farmers who had excelled in farming over the period of time were felicitated.
Concluding her speech she said that the Zilla Panchayat of Mysuru will always try their level best to put forth farmer’s interest first.
M Mahateshappa Joint Agriculture Director Mysuru, L Madappa Vice president Zilla Panchayat and other were present.
