The incident occurred when a full grown eucalyptus tree in Basavanna Park, KHB Colony, 3rd Stage in Kuvempunagar here, fell on live electric wires nearby, bringing down nine electric poles and a transformer as a result. One of the poles, close to the park, fell on a Tata Sumo (KA-09-A-2573) parked nearby. The student Thanya, who was walking close to the Tata Sumo when the pole came crashing down, escaped with injuries as the Tata Sumo took the impact of the falling pole, it is learnt. Also it missed injuring a laundry man Chikkashetty who was ironing clothes when the incident took place. Luckily Chikkashetty escaped from this accident.
