Mysuru: A fake ‘Consumer Forum official’ landed in police net due to a Facebook post.

Sandesh, a fake Consumer Forum sleuth had raided Hallimane Hotel on Hunasur Bypass road recently.

He had ordered the lessee of the hotel to come to his office in Mysuru and pay a penalty of Rs 10 lac for not maintaining the hotel properly.

Before leaving the hotel, he had confiscated the licence of the hotel.

The hotel land owner Ramesh and lessee Kumaraswamy, accordingly met the ‘sleuth’ in Mysuru. The matter was closed by the ‘sleuth’ after accepting bribe of Rs 3 lac.

After few days, when Kumaraswamy saw Sandesh’s post on FB, he grew a little suspicious. He instantly registered a complaint with Hunasur Town Police, who tracking the case nabbed fake sleuth Sandesh and also seized Rs 3 lac from him.

He has been remanded to judicial custody.
