Mysuru: In a major boost for women entrepreneurs, Industrial park, exclusively for women entrepreneurs will be coming up at Tandya Industrial Area (second stage) in Kadakola of Nanjangud Taluk, Mysuru district.
This is considered to be second such initiative, exclusive aimed at backing women entrepreneurs particularly in the micro and small enterprises. The park which will be spread over 45 acres is expected to attract women entrepreneurs and help them to set their firms. The women who are inclined towards the proliferation of micro and small industrial units in the district will receive government support. There are also plans to earmark certain percentage of jobs for women in the units located in the industrial park.

As per sources 80 to 90 applicants, out of which 99 percent are from Mysuru have come up with proposals for setting up their firms in the park. After scrutiny of the applications, list of 80 entrepreneurs have been sent to government perusal.

Ramakrishnegowda, Joint Director, Department of Industries and Commerce said “As per state government initiative which was announced in the 2016-17 budgets, we have come out with exclusive entrepreneur park for women. In the 45 acre land, nearly 80 to 100 women entrepreneurs can be accommodated with minimum investment of Rs 25 lakh to maximum Rs 1 crore. For each entrepreneur minimum of quarter acre to maximum of one acre will be allotted. The allotment will be done in another three to four months’ time. Already the land is developed and we are into marking the plots. For all the women entrepreneurs, the land will be given on subsidized rate.”  He also mentioned that nearly 20 units have been given to SC/ST women entrepreneurs.

 G Shilpa, one among the women entrepreneur who will be setting up food unit (Banana stem juice product) firm at the women entrepreneur park said that it is a great initiative which will boost the morale and confidence of women entrepreneurs.
