Mysuru: Several petty shops selling illegal liquor were raided in the district under the directives of Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha by District Administration and Excise Department
The issue of illegal sale of liquor was brought to the notice of Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha during her meeting with the farmers after which the necessary measures were taken.
Raids were conducted on illegal liquor selling units at Kanoor, Madapura, Elehalli, Kadaburu, Ariyuru, Kolagalli, Yalahalli and Kaleyuru villages in Hullahalli Hobli and cases were registered against five persons.
Cases have been booked against Chennajamma, 34, resident of Elehalli; Ravi, 30, resident of Madapura; Shekar, 35, resident of Hiriyur; Puttadevanayaka, 43, resident of Hullahalli and Bhoomegowda of Hiriyur.
The Excise Department has, in a press release, said that the accused used to purchase liquor from outlets and sell the same in their petty shops at a margin.
