Mysuru: Mysuru City police arrested an employee of a jewellery shop under the charges of gold theft on Sunday.
The arrested is Yatish Babu (44), resident of Srirampura in the city. Babu was a supervisor in Lalitha Mart Jewelery shop on Ashoka Road and is said to have been stealing gold ornaments from the shop.
Babu, who was working in the shop from past three-years, had stolen 400 grams of gold from the shop, said the police. He stole gold pieces during stock verification, they added.
Amarnath, the shop owner verified the stock and he found missing gold items following which, he filed a complaint with the Lashkar Police. On the basis of CCTV footages, the police interrogated Babu, who later confessed to his crime.
Babu was then arrested and gold items worth Rs 10 lakh were recovered from him. The police are conducting further investigation.
