Mysuru: A 35-year-old male elephant died after it stumbled and fell into a ditch when its front leg got trapped with iron chain.

The elephant Kusha at the Mathigodu camp in Nagarahole entered into the river Laxmana to drink water but stumbled and fell into a ditch. It died of a stroke.

Immediately, elephant team led by Abhimanyu tried to rescue it, but all their efforts went in vain. Later the dead elephant was retrieved and post-mortem was done by veterinary doctor Umashanker.
